The View of the Parents and Caregivers

It is important that parents and caregivers see the significant role they play in their child’s education and view themselves as the experts on their children.  Caregivers who recognize that they are competent and capable are better able to access supports they require to meet their potential in raising competent and capable children, who will flourish as they learn and grow.

Parents will be equipped with the tools and strategies they need to meet the evolving needs of their children and experience a reduction in their own personal stress and improve their mental health and well-being because of it.

When they view themselves as competent, they create safe environments for appropriate risk-taking, and ensure they are offering positive interactions with their children in an ongoing way, understanding the impact it will have on their lifelong learning and ultimately shaping who the child becomes as an adult.

Families come from diverse backgrounds with varying experiences, knowledge, and unique perspectives that contribute to the child’s overall learning and well-being. We strive for families to recognize this and leverage their knowledge and experiences as they are active contributors to their child’s overall development.

The View Of The Child

"Children are competent, capable of complex thinking, curious, and rich in potential. They grow up in families with diverse social, cultural, and linguistic perspectives. Every child should feel that he or she belongs, is a valuable contributor to his or her surroundings, and deserves the opportunity to succeed."

Program Classes

  • The Prenatal Program Classes

This is the first course of its kind, geared toward expecting couples to help prepare them for what to anticipate when they become parents, with a focus being on the first year. Families will have an opportunity to think through some important planning pieces to help them successfully transition from partners to parents. Families who attend this program can later choose to take the condensed version of The First Year program as a review OR sign up for the Full 6 week program.

  • The First Year Program Classes

This program is for caregivers with children 3 months to 1 year. Parents and caregivers will attend parenting workshops for 1.5 hours every other week combined with facilitated playgroups on the alternating weeks. They will learn the theory behind The Money Method Approach that will support them in their understanding of their child’s development in the first year. Parents and caregivers will discover the power of positive Interactions, how the child's brain develops and strategies to help create appropriate expectations and boundaries, while building respectful and healthy relationships between children and their caregivers.

  • The Preschool Program Classes

This program is for families with children 3-6 years old. It offers a unique approach to parenting supports, as it alternates between workshops for just parents and then facilitated playgroups for children and their caregivers. During the workshops parents are taught specific strategies to support their child’s overall development, where the facilitated playgroups provide an environment for parents and caregivers to practice their new tools and strategies with their children.

  • The Review and Reflect 4 Week Program

This program is only available to families who have already taken one of the 6 week programs. It is an overview of the important information from those programs, used as a refresher for parents and caregivers.
